I’ve been interviewing people who volunteered to talk to me about what death positivity means to them. I had a tremendous boost to numbers because Dr Kathryn Mannix, author of With the End in Mind and Listen, (both great reads around death and dying) retweeted my original tweet, resulting in lots of people offering themselves for interview.
I’m getting towards the end of those interviews, so if anyone who reads this would be interested, I would particularly like to hear from death positive practitioners in the USA, and/or people of colour who are working with the dead or dying as death doulas, funeral workers, mortuary assistants or similar. One thing I’ve discovered so far is how fascinating and how lovely the people I’ve spoken to are. Maybe that’s an interesting outcome in itself! As someone said to me, it would be great to sit down and have a cup of tea together, and all of my interviewees have provoked this feeling. Of course, we’ve got a mutual interest in common but nevertheless I’ve enjoyed speaking to each and every one. Thanks for your generosity and your time!
